Q.

Brown Pooh

My baby was born on 16 June 2010 and was breasfed only until a month ago. His pooh was yellowish/green. He is now at cré che and is on Nan during the day and breast at night. During the past 2 weeks he sleeps through with no night feeding and his pooh has a brown colour and the consistency is like purity. Is this normal? He is now four months and 3 weeks and drinks four bottles milk a day, (1 every 3 hours). When do I give cereal and does he have to drink extra water as well? At his 4 month immunisation he weighed 6.2kg.

The average weight for a 4 month baby boy is 6.8kg so your baby son is slightly below his expected weight. The change in colour of his stools is probably due to the change to the NAN formula during the day. His stools are not watery or loose and he seems to be content as he sleeps through the night. You could start him on solids now starting off with small amounts of rice cereal twice daily.
