Brewer''s Yeast while breastfeeding

Dear Doc,

My baby is 5 weeks old and my milk supply decreased a bit. I was told to get brewer''s yeast tablets and to drink 3 tablets, 3 times a day.

But now I see on the bottle it says not to use if pregnant or lactating. Is it safe to use while breastfeeding or not?

Thanks for your help.

You can take Brewers yeast while breastfeeding your baby. You may notice that your baby becomes slightly more windy than usual or may pass stools that have an unusual smell. If your baby develops colic or seems to be uncomfortable then you should stop taking the brewers yeast

To increase milk supply, demand feed and don''t give a dummy or bottles of formula or water or rooibos tea as those things reduce milk supply.

Brewers yeast might give you wind but will not give your baby wind.
