My little boy is 6½  months and weighs app 10kg. He is a healthy baby. At what age can i start giving him little sips of Sterri Stumpi Milk?
Another question is that i am breastfeeding, leaving at home a little bottle of diluted juce for hot weather. He prefers the boob though and doesnt like a bottle or a dummy. My milk supply is on the low side. I take 1 esperide a day and sometimes 2 at once in the mornings, but dont really feel a difference in my milk. Is there anything else i can try to increase my milk? I am trying the ''jungle juice'' at the moment too! Besides these 2 options, are there any other?
Thank you

You cannot give your baby a Steri Stumpi until he is well over one year old. The stimulus for you producing breast milk is your baby sucking at your breast. This realeases a hormone called prolactin which stimulates milk production. It is probably the fact that your baby is not breasfeeding during the day that is causing your milk production to fall. When your baby is this age, you need to express milk when you are apart and leave that for your baby to drink during the day. Your supply is getting low because you are not expressing the missed feeds.

If your son won''t take expressed milk in a bottle, get the nanny or creche to give it on a teaspoon or in a cup (just a normal drinking cup is fine). As baby will be feeding from your breast during the evening, night and morning his physiological need to suck will be met.

You also need to give baby water to drink (cooled boiled water) during the day and at meal times. Rather don''t give diluted fruit juice till baby is past a year.

At this age your baby should also be starting on solids. One meal of mashed fresh fruit at about mid morning is sufficient and baby will probably only have a teaspoon full or two in teh beginning.

Sterri stumpis are milkshakes - flavoured cows milk. Your child should only have cows milk after a year, and it should be full cream and unflavoured. There is plenty of time to give your child sweets and junk when he is old enough to know what the stuff is - why give it now when it serves no nutritional purpose and he doesn''t know what it is and doesn''t miss it?

If you want to carry on breastfeeding, express at least three times a day when you are apart from baby and continue to demand feed when you are with baby. If you don''t do this, your supply will just get less and less.
