Boy''s penis

My son will be 6 in December. His penis is still not unable to retract. It''s starting to hurt him now, especially when he has an erection in the mornings - so bad that he''ll even cry sometimes. I need to take him to have it cut, but do I take him to a normal urologist or do you get a paediatric urologist?

It would be best to take your son to a paediatric urologist.

WJA, you are obsessed with foreskins and have no experience with any foreskin problems because you yourself are circumcised. Get over it and grow up. The boy is in pain and crying because of his foreskin problems and needs to get circumcised. PERIOD!!!

Use your common sense, if you have any!

Rather fix and repair the problem than opting for amputation.

Lin, either one will do a great circumcision. Dont wait, just get it done for his own good. Explain to him what they will do and that he will not have these problems when this is done. My nephew had the same issue at age 5 and after his circumcision was healed he started referring to his penis as beingfixed and he would say that it looked and felt better too. He had no issues after the surgery.

First choice would be pediatric, the second would be a regular urologist. Be sure to ask the doctor''s experience with doing that and do not let them start stretching the foreskin, it will be one of the most painful things for him and will give him nightmares and not let you near his penis at all. . Just get him circumcised and be done.

When my son was born, we had him circumcised as an infant. Best decision we could have made for him. This was largely based on research and my nephew''s situation.
