Boils on Head

Hi,
My little girl has been getting boils on her head.

This is the second time and they are very painful for her. She is 2 1/2 years old.

When we clean it alot of muck comes out of it.

I just want to find out if you know what causes this and if i should take her to her pead?

thanks

Paediatrician

It is unusual for a child of this age to get boils on her head and certainly boils are painful. It is important to find out if these are boils which are normally caused by a bacterial infection called 'staph'-or is this a fungal infection called tinea. It would be best to ask your paediatrician to see your little girl. It may also help to give her a good zinc supplement such as Zinplex daily.
