Boils, bladder infection, chicken pox, cellulitis

Hi there
My grand-daughter (6) has been quite unwell in the last few weeks, She started off with a series of horrible boils on her bottom, then started wetting the bed and got a sever bladder infection. Then she got chicken pox and now she is currently being hospitalised with suspected cellulitis (over her pubic bone area) apparently caused by the pox. She had a week of anti biotics for the bladder infection and is now on an intravenous anti biotic for the cellulits. They have tested her for diabetes. The first test came back normal, but last night her blood sugar was high. This morning it was normal again. Have you any idea what the problem can be. Thank you.

Your granddaughter does appear to have a problem with her immunity to infection at present. Her antibody levels need to be tested by the paeditrician. Diabetes is indeed also a possibility here and this diagnosis needs to be very carefully looked for by the paediatrician.
