Q.

blue stool in 6 month old baby

Hi Doc,

My son has seemed a bit constipated in the past 2 weeks or so and often seems to strain to pass small, very firm blueish / grey stools. Is this something to be worried about.
His daily intake is as follows:
200 ml Nan 2
4 tsps maize (gluten free) cereal
200 ml Nan 2
apple and pear
200 ml Nan 2
veggies and chicken
200 ml Nan 2
I also try to get him to take in a bit of water in between his usual food / formula.

Thanks.

It is unusual for your baby to passing these pale constipated stools. It would be worthwhile trying him on a different formula such as Lactogen 2 to see if this problem disappears.Let me know if you are still concerned once he on the new formula.
