Q.

Blotches

I hope this makes sense. My daughter is 20 months old. I have found that recently she seems to get very blotchy. If I take a top off, then her skin goes blotchy and if she cries her face goes all blotchy. It was never like this before that is why I am wondering if I should be worried or if this is normal. I orignally thought it was the antibiotics she was on that was causing it, but it is the same now even after I have stopped the antibiotics.

Thanks

Paediatrician

This blotchy appearance can be normal in some children especially during the winter months. However blotchiness of the skin in young children is a feature of a low thyroid or hypothyroidism. To be on the safe side ask your paediatrician to check her and specifically to check her thyroid levels.
