Q.

blocked nose 14 week

please give me some advice. my baby is 14 weeks old, and has cut his 2nd tooth on saturday. for the last 2 weeks, his nose keeps closing up so badly, that you can hear he is struggeling to breathe. I bought iliaden nose drops for babies, and this opens up his nose immediatly, but after a few hours its back to square 1. I know also you are not allowed to use it for more than 5 days. his voice is also very hoarse and when he cries his voice sometimes goes away and his cry is very faint. what should i do, taking him for his 14 week injections tommorow???

Paediatrician

It is difficult to advise about the correct approach to your baby's problem without being able to examine him.The most likely cause of a baby of this age having such a blocked nose is often due to adenoid enlargement.Another possibility is a nasal allergy possibly due to cows milk allergy. What worries me is the fact that your baby's voice is hoarse and that his voice disappears when crying. Use only infant nasal saline or Salex nose drops twice a day and arrange for your baby to be seen by a paediatrician.
