Bladder Infections

Hi Doc

My 13 month baby girl ha had 4 UTI to date. Her Paed had a sonar done on her at 4 months, no problems were found. Then she had a catheter procedure done last week and no urinary reflux problem was found at all. I do as I should with her (wipe front to back, no scented wipes inside her vagina, no bubble bath, bum cream only on the bum, etc etc . Im also prone to bladder infections so I know the drill!

Ive noticed that every time she is teething badly or every time we have a few days of very runny poo, that that is when sher gets a UTI. What do u think the cause of her infections are then? Any suggestions??

Thank u

One of the possible causes for your baby girl's recurrent urinary tract infections may well be due to faecal contamination caused by her runny stools which would be in her nappies. It is very unusual for a baby girl of 13 months to have had so many urinary tract infecetions. She seems to have been properly investigated so far but it would still be a good idea to ask a paediatric nephrologist to see her at this stage.
