Q.

bladder infection?

Hi

My daughter is ten yrs old. She has been complaining that since last Friday her underwear has been smelling bad and feels a bit damp. On Sunday evening she woke up in the middle of the night to go to toilet and said she had a severe cramp around her belly button. When she woke in the morning the pain was there, and was relieved after going to the toilet. She had the pain everytime she had to go to the toilet...but less than the night''s pain.

Could this be a bladder infection? What about the smelly underwear?

Thanks

Your daughter's symptoms could well be due to a urinary infection, but the smelly underwear is not a usual feature of a urinary infection. This would be more likely with a vaginal infection. Either way your daughter needs to see her doctor ASAP so that she can be correctly diagnosed and treated.
