Q.

Biting and scratching???

My LB is eight and a half months and loves to bite. I am covered in little bruises and his biting habit is getting a little embarrassing:-\
When he is playful and gets excited he will snuggle into you and you think aaaaw, he is cuddling but then he BITES. and its rather sore. Yesterday I went out with friends and he bit one of them. LO was playing with my friend who thought he was the cutest thing and then he bit her and she handed him straight back, I was so embarrassed. I don' t think he knows its naughty and it usually happens when he is so happy and excited and playful. How do I get him to stop?
Also when he is falling asleep he scratches and pinches my chest... so as well as the bruises, I have red scratch marks... I look like a battered women:o)

This is a difficult problem as your baby is still so young and it is going to be virtually impossible to discipline him in the normal way. When he bites tell thim to stop in a firm clear voice. If he persists put him down and walk away from him. If he bites other children you must remove him from their presence. The problem will be easier to deal with when he is just over a year so you are going to have to very firm with him until then.
