Bite with rash, blister and black head

We went to a lunch on Saturday where my 5 month old was bitten by, what we assumed was, a mozzie. The one bite, though has formed a hickey-type rash on her hand, with a white blister and black head - do I panic and charge off to the chemist for bandages and what not, or do I just let it work itself away? I noticed the little blister yesterday, and the black head today. I don' t want to risk it being something that could affect her blood and make her really sick as we' ve just got over a cold and she really is too young to be sick!

It is alaways difficult to advise on a skin rash without being able to see your little girl. However the kind of lesion you describe, especially with the black scab, could be due to a tick bite. For this reason I would like your daughter to be checked by a doctor as tick bite fever is a common problem in SA.
