Q.

Birthmark infected

Hi Dr.....my 1 mth old has a birthmark on her bum &  this has become infected, by urine &  stools that she passes. It has been like this for 2 weeks now &  I am really worried that it could become something worse, like cancer etc.....could an infection cause that? Also how do I make it better as I have been to paed &  he said I should put tetraderm plaster &  bactraban on, but the tetraderm just falls off after she has passed urine or a stool. I really do not know what to do now to make it come right. Please help. Thank you

This is not cancer. Please take your baby back to the paediatrician. The infection must be correctly treated.
