Bilirubin ++ in urine?

Dear Prof

My 6 yo son has been complaining of typical urinary tract infection symptoms, ie burning during urination, and frequent urge. Its not severe, but I did a Uricheck strip test anyhow. It showed a bit of erythrocytes on Sat evening, but nothing else, and then on Sun it showed almost no erythrocytes, but bilirubin ++?? is this something to be concerned about? he has been complaining of belly ache for more than a week now, but we wrote it off to stress due to a friend-problem and assessment-time at school. He now does have a cold, with sore throat and coughing. Not taking any meds.

Thanks you as always,

Bilirubin in the urine is usually a sign that a child is developing hepatitis. Your son should also not have red blood cells in his urine.He needs to be seen by your paediatrician.
