Betanoid syrup

I need advise son of 9 months has just cut his 2nd tooth...with all the side effects that goes with that. He has had a runny nose (which I treated with Demazin) but the sinus drip in his throat has now caused him to start coughing. My GP has prescribed Betanoid syrup (1ml / 2ce per day / 3 days). I have read so many negative (and very worrying) things about this actually safe for my son???? He has also prescribed Linctogon - as a " naturall"  antibiotic. Would you advise me on the " safety"  and effectiveness of these medicines.

Linctagon syrup is indeed useful for treating the colds in babies from the age of 6 months onwards and it is regarded as a natural antibiotic. There is no reason why a baby of 9 months should be give a powerful cortisone like Betanoid to treat a cold. All the side effects you mention are indeed of concern. Keep your baby's nose clear by using a saline nose spray or drops such as Salex or Sterimar paediatric and use a nasal suction device to clear your baby's nose of mucus [ask your pharmacist about this]
