My 1 year old daughter rocks (Sways) forwards and backwards at times when sitting down. She also bangs her head when she feels there is something hard behind her. She finds it funny. She started doing this a week or 2 ago. When I fetched her from school, I noticed that there is an Autistic baby there who does the same things. Is my baby clever enough to have picked this behaviour up from her?? She sleeps next to her in the cot..

Should i worry??

Secondly, she has has also started tantrums when she does not get her way, is she old enough to be disciplined yet, smacks on the bottom, etc???

Usually this kind of behaviour such as head banging and rocking in infants is a form of attention seeking. However it seems that your baby daughter is indeed copying the behaviour of the autistic baby next to her. Your baby must be very clever. You do not want this kind of habit to become entrenched so it would be best if she was moved to a positon away from the autistic baby.
If she has a temper tantrum you should not smack her as this aggravates the problem.Your daughter is still a bit young and disciplining her is going to be difficult at her age, but just put her in her room with the door closed every single time that she starts with a tantrum. She must not be allowed out until she is quiet.
