My baby had the usual BCG injection in his upper arm in hospital. He is now 4 weeks old and there is no sign of a blister / pimple, I''ve never even seen a mark where the injection went in. It shows on his growth card that he indeed had the injection. But I''ve heard that if he doesn''t get the big ''pimple'' that causes a scar, it hasn''t ''taken''. Is this true? Should I worry, and should he get the injection again?

It is possible that the BCG immunisation was not given correctly and that your baby's BCG has not 'taken'.It is so important to have good anti TB cover in this country. Ask your paediatrician or clinic nurse to test your baby to see if his BCG did or did not take. If the test is negative he will need another BCG.

my baby injection took almost 8 weeks to develop a " pimple"  and once it opened by itself there was a lot of puss. give it at least 2 more weeks.
