Q.

Baby''s cough

Hi doc

My baby of 8mnths has a loose cough! It''s now about a week, I''m giving her cough mixture during the day and Nite-pax during the evenings, however she seems not getting better nor getting much worse. What can I try for her?

Your bay probably has had a viral chest infection called bronchiolitis. She is now getting better and is coughing up and clearing the mucous from her lungs. Do not give her Nitepax or another cough mixture which will suppress her cough and stop her clearing this mucous out. This illness usually lasts at least 10 to 14 days. As long as she is comfortable and is able to drink her bottle and sleep well there is no need for concern.
