Q.

baby talk

Hi Doc
Im a bit worried about my recently turned two year old. She cannot make a full sentence yet and still talks in baby gibberish. She can say words like mommy, daddy, bottle, dummy etc but still cannot make a full sentence. When she does talk she babbles... The creche that she is at is Afrikaans, and we speak English to her at home...could she be confused and not know how to pronounce words....or am I worrying for nothing??

Your daughter should be saying more words at her age. The creche may indeed be confusing her language development. It is important to be sure that she can hear well. If her language development has not improved by the time that she is 2 and a half years she should be seen by a speech therapist.
