Baby shaking head

Hi, I am really concerned. My son almost 8 month is shaking his head so 4 or 5 times and then stops. Last night he did it when he got tired. And also this morning with my husband. Why? Is it a concern? I am very worried - please help!

This is not uncommon in young babies and usually happens when babies are tired. Sometimes it becomes a bit of a habit. As long as he is not doing this all the time or vey often when he is awake it should be fine. If you are at all concerned about your baby or this habit becomes more regular your baby must be seen by your paediatrician.

Hi, my niece used to do the same thing, when we took her to a doctor he said that it could be from an ear infection and it turned out true. When the ear infection was gone, she stopped doing it. On the other hand, I know that sometimes babys do it when they want to sleep, especially if they are used to you rocking them to put the to sleep.

hi Bianca, is he shaking it in a " no gesture" ?.... my baby was also doing it, then it stop and it''s back again. I a no worried as it looks liks she is trying to copy what we do @ home. When i tel her its time for bed she would shake her head, in the mornings when i tell her we need to get dressed for school she shakes her head, even if she had enough to eat - she is now 10 months old. if it is something to worry about - then i have a big problem
