Baby refusing bottle

hi doc, welcome back! my almost 6months old boy is refusing his bottle. we thought maybe its the formular we are using NAN 1, but i now changed to NAN pelargon. he wont even open his mouth and cries terribly when we try to get him to drink. He is also breastfeeding but only late in the afternoon when i come back from work. I dont think pumping will help as the problem is just the bottle. i tried the feeding mug he is also refusing. he just can tolerate the breast. his nappy change has reduced significantly and his urine is concentrated and yellow. im worried that he is getting dehydrated and not getting enough. But no signs of fever or any other thing.

hes is already on solids, maize and rice cereal. and he got constipated, so i introduced purities, Pear and prunes. These he takes well, but i think milk should be his main source. What can i do. Can i introduce other liquids like tea or juice. thanks

Thank you.You are correct, your baby does need milk as his main source of nutrition. You have been very observant and he is definitely not taking enough fluids every day.He is too you for tea or juice and for a cup. He takes the breast well. You will have to express breast milk and try another kind of teat on his bottle.

Hi Boni - I had the same problem. My baby was 7 months old when she had to go to nursery school. I breastfed her in the mornings and late afternoon as soon as we got home - she also started to wake up more in the nights for feeds as she needed her milk.
During the day she started crying when she saw her bottle - so I intruduced a soft tip feeding cup - she started by drinking 50ml - 100ml during the day......
I stopede breastfeeding at 11 months and since I told her I have no more milk, she suddenly loves her cup! Although she still drinks more fluids when mommy is with her.
GOOD LUCK
