Q.

Baby girl and feeding

Hi doc, my girl is 7 and a half months old now and has always been very tiny but healthy. She eats cereal in the morning with veggies and meat purity for lunch and fruit purity for dinner, I breastfeed still but she will sometimes only drink once a day or sometimes not drink milk at all during the daytime. I will offer to her but she seems to just be too full after her meals or just not interested in drinking! Usually when she doesn''t drink during the day she will wake about 3 times at night to drink. She weighs just over 7kg, is this a good healthy weight for her age? Is it normal for her to only drink a few times in a 24hr period? I know that solids should not replace her milk feeds but I offer and she is just not hungry inbetween her solids!

The average weight for a baby girl of 7 months is 7.5kg. Your baby's weight seems to be very close to the average so there is no real need for concern.Of importance is that her milk is her main source of nutrition. It appears that the solids are filling her and she is then not hungry enough to breast feed afterwards. She should breast feed first and then you can offer her solids. She is on the correct solids for her age.
