Q.

baby gas

Hi there
My 1 month old boy seems to have lot' s of flatulance &  intestinal gas. He' s on breast milk, fed mostly via the bottle &  has atleast one feed of Nan 1 per day. This problem started about a week ago. His stomach rumbles continuously &  he draws his legs towards his stomach in a kicking motion repeatedly. We' ve been using Telament drops in every other feed &  his Paediatrician' s asked that we give him Buscopan (1ml * 3 per day). We' ve tried him on Nan HA &  he responded with severe reflux, so we discontinued this. He' s back on Nan 1 now. We just don' t want to administer so much of medication on him at this tender age but hate seeing him suffer. Please help!
Also, I' ve read a little about cycstic fibrosis &  know that it' s characterized low/ slow weight gain from birth. Althought my son has put on almost a kg since birth, should we have him checked. He used to choke a lot during feeding &  has twice now, brought out phlegm through his mouth.

Thanks!

Your baby is being treated for colic, but appears to have a form of lactose intolerance. Try him on NAN LF and see if he improves. At the same time stop all of the medicines you are giving him. There is nothing to suggest that your baby has cystic fibrosis. His weight gain is excellent so far.He may have some reflux, but nothing serious at all.
