Q.

Baby cries to sleep

Is it normal for my 5 month old to cry to sleep? It doesn' t happen all the time but when it does it can last quite a while until he' s finally asleep and there' s nothing I can do to make him stop. It is very sad at times as he screams out and no amount of rocking helps but the best part is he always awakes with a smile and is never ever crabby. He sleeps thro the night and has 2-3 naps during the day.

Your baby's behaviour when going to sleep is not easy to explain. He is probably teething now but other than this I am unable to suggest a good reason. He appears to be a happy baby and sleeps well so obviously there is nothing significant that seems to be worrying him.
