Q.

baby'' belly button

Hi Dr,
My 3 week baby girl belly button is so big, I am very worried about it. Even under her clothes it shows as if she has a big tummy. I took her tio the paeditrician, and he told me that it has no effect in her body, if I am that worried an operation can be performed when she has grown up.
Is there nothing to be done now to reduce it?

This is very common in babies and is known as an 'umbilical hernia' Even though it is very large it will almost certainly close and disappear by itself before your little girl is 3 or 4 years old. If it is still there when she is 3 years old you can take her to see a doctor.
