Q.

BABY BANGING HIS HEAD

My baby is 11 months old. Hes got a habbit of banging his head against stuff. And its not when he is angry and not doing it very hard and with agression. He would sit forward and bang his head against the floor, or if I hold him he would bang his head against mine. Again not with aggression. Why does he do that. My parents told me that I did exactly the same thing when I was a baby. Is there an explanation?

This is a well known habit in babies and is called' head banging'. This habit is thought to be due to 'attention seeking', but in many babies no obvious cause is found. It does sometimes tend to occur in families.Head banging always stops by itself usually before the age of 18 months.
