athletes foot on 3 year old?

I' ve noticed a rash on my son' s foot since last week. It looks like athletes foot with raised red " bubble"  rash. It' s on top of the toes and inbetween three of the toes on one foot. I have had athletes foot in the past, but haven' t had a serious outbreak in a long time. Could he have gotten it from me? We do share a bathroom. Is it possible to get it so young? I' ve put on some Lamisil cream for 7 days now, and it is only slightly better. Could it possible be something else if it' s not reacting quickly to the Lamisil? I feel terribly ashamed about it.

Your son is highly unlikely to have athletes foot at his age.The most likely cause of this rash is a virus infection called hand, foot and mouth disease. Sometimes only the feet are affected. The rash should clear up by itself without any treatment.
