Asthma

Hi, my 3 month old baby was diagnosed with asthma. He is on 1x Pulmicort twice a day and 1/2 duolin 3 times a day. My doctor said to use this untill he is big enough for a pump, does this sound right? He still has alot of mucous, should the meds be upped or changed?

Your 3 month old baby is highly unlikely to have asthma. He may have a viral chest infection called bronchioloitis. He will get over this wheezing episode by himself. Pulmicort is not used to treat bronchioloitis so this should be stopped. Using the Duolin 3 times a day is too much for such a young baby. Once daily in the evening is more than enough. As long as your baby is able to sleep and is able to feed there is no need for concern. It will take about 10 to 14 days before he is over this illness.
