antibiotics every month

Hi Doc,
Are antibiotics good for toddlers. A friend of mine has a 18 months old little gal, who gets a cold/cough every month because she attends creche. but everytime she gets a cough she goes to a doctor and get antibiotics.
I might be wrong to think this is not right or healthy, please advise

Your friend's little girl attends a crèche and is ill all the time. This is very common problem. Almost all the infections she gets are caused by viruses so antibiotics will not and do not help. Your friend should try to boost her daughter's immunity by giving her probiotics daily such as Probiflora or Reuterina. She should also try Creche Guard or Scott's Emulsion as an additional immune booster. Using a saline nasal spray twice daily will help to keep her nose clear which will also help a lot.
