Anti-psycotic for brain damaged teen?

My husband and I are very worried. His daughter lives with his ex-wife and we just received an account from the pharmacy for Risperlet. (I googled it and found it is an anti-psycotic used for schizophrenia).

The child is 15 years old mentally and physically handicapped from birth. Is this good for this child?

Risperlet is the generic form of an anti-psychotic medicine called Risperidone. You are correct,it is used for schizophrenia in children aged 15 years and over.It has probably been prescibed to help to calm her especially if she tends to be aggressive at times. I am sure that this medicine was prescibed by a neurologist or psychiatrist who is familiar with the benefits of Risperlet for her particular neurological problem.
