Q.

Anti biotics or not

Hi Professor,

At my local clinic, the sisters will not prescribe anti biotics for under 2 year olds. I can''t watch my child get lethargic and moan in pain and work through the fever. Is it bad for my child of 10 months to go onto anti biotics? Will it set back his immune system?

Thank you.

There is no reason why a child under 2 years should not get an antibiotic if this is required in order to treat a suspected bacterial infection. I cannot understand why the nurses at your local clinic will not treat your baby if this is necessary. Please take your baby to be seen by your GP.
