Q.

Anaesthesia

Hello Doctor
I do hope you had a good weekend!
I wrote in a while back regarding my son who needs to be circumcised as the procedure done at birth was not done correctly. We managed to find a very good urologist who I am happy with and he advised that we do need to go ahead with the circumcision. The operation is booked for this week and he will have a general anaesthetic. My concern now is that he seems to have picked up a little cold. And is a little blocked up and seems to have a little post nasal drip cough. He is not couging all the time, it seems to be after he sneezes?. He does not sound chesty at all and is happy and active as normal, eating, drinking and sleeping well. He is not running a temperature.
What do I do now? Can he still have the operation or will I need to wait until the cold clears completely.
Thank you so much for your advise.

I would be against your son having an anaesthetic if he has a cold. Postpone the operation for a week.
