Am I worrying about nothing

Dear Doc

I have an 8y old son who is 1.4m tall and weighs 27kgs. He has ADHD and is taking 36mg Concerta. That is the only medication he takes. Over th last while - it is hard to say how long - he freqeuntly complains that his feet are sore or his knees or hips. He is a good sportsman and plays outside a lot on his jayboard/tramplone etc, so understandably he is also full of bruises everywhere. Mostly on his legs, back and hips - the bony parts. He is healthy and I dont think anything sinister is wrong other than just the normal aches and pains that are part of growing up. I just want to check with you if you agree.

Thank you Doc

Your son is very tall for his age but his weight is just about on the average for a boy of 8 years.I would take notice of his pains in his feet ,knees and hips. There are certain conditions usually affecting carTilage in the bones of growing children that need to be excluded. It would be best to ask yor paediatrician to see your son just to be sure that all is well. It is important that he has an Xray done of his knees and hips.
