Hi again doc. I am also 3.5 months pregnant. If it is mumps my son has, what precautions do I need to take?

Thanks very much, R

If you have not had mumps or were not immunised against mumps as a child, you are at risk. The most risky period is during the first 3 months of pregnancy. If you should get mumps there is an increased risk of a miscarriage. Unfortunately as well there is no way of preventing you getting mumps that can be safely given to you while you are pregnant.
