Q.

Allergy Rash

Hi Doc, my two year old developed an allergy rash two weeks ago on the one thigh, i did not take it serious because it did not seem to irritate her. it later spread, started iching and seems more coarse especially around the folds. I took her to a GP on saturday he mentioned something about it being fungal. He gave us histoderm ointment and allegen to drink. Rash is still getting worse. the baby scratches herself vigorously and cant sleep at night. I am writing to you because i cant afford to take her to another doctor, a peaditrician. Please help me your advice was always so helpful in the past..

You are very welcome. It is unusual for a baby to have an allergy rash on one thigh only. From your description this rash sounds like a candida rash. Apply Nystatin cream 3 times a day to the rash. If it does not clear after 2 days then use Mylocort cream twice daily until the rash clears.
