Q.

Allergy

I gave my 8 month old strawberry flavoured smooth yoghurt and he now has a runny nose. He has been on Lactogen 2 since he was 6 months old. Could the yoghurt have given him the allergy? Should I change the formula? I am giving him Salex nose drops but he now has a cough. What can I give him for the cough?

Thanking you.

It is unlikely that your baby is allergic to the yoghurt. He is not allergic to Lactogen so he is not allergic to milk and milk products. The strawberry may have affected him. It is much more likely that he has a cold which is also affecting his chest causing him to cough. Keep his nose clear by using Salex nose drops twice daily. Cough mixtures are not used for infants.Once you clear his nose the post nasal mucous drip will stop and he should stop coughing.
