My baby girl is in her fith month. She was a difficult baby from the beginning, she would cry non-stop. The doctor told me she was lactose intollerant, suffering from reflux, being allergic to Soya. After numerous blood tests and even x-rays that showed nothing, the doctor suggested Similac HA. She would cry more during the day than at night! After 2 weeks of hell the doctor said she was allergic to the Similac HA and put her on Novalac AC. Things were better for a while, but she is so constipated. I have to give het Duphalac daily for the past 2 months and if I skip only one day I have to give her a suppositry. The past week she started crying again for no apparant reason. I have not even started on solid foods in fear that it might make her worse. Some people tell me it is becase she is teething, but isnt that suppose to make her stools loose? Is she developing an allergy for the Novalac AC? Is there any other milk I can try?

Your baby is not an allergic baby and all tests for allergy are negative. She probably has a lactose intolerance but cannot tolerate soya formulas. You will need to start her on a lactose free formula such as NAN LF or S26 LF. The Novalac AC contains lactose and in any case is making your baby very constipated so it must be stopped immediately. Please let me know how your baby gets on once she is on the LF formula.
