Q.

allergy

hi there,

i fed my 16month old daughter barley-based cereal this afternoon and i noticed some swelling in the lower part of her eye some hours later and she' s been a bit restless, rubbing on her eye and all. This is the first time i' ll be feeding her this particular cereal.Could she be allergic to barley?if yes, what' s the remedy?

Thanks.

It is not common for young children to be allergic to barley, but occasionally they may be allergic to it.There may be something else in the cereal which is causing this allergy. You can use a safe antihistamine called Zyrtec syrup. The dose is 2.5ml once daily until the swelling disappears.
