Allergies or Something Else?

Hi Doctor,
My daughter is about 20 months old. Recently she started to scratch quite alot. Some parts of her skin feels like " goosebumps" . The skin around her eyes sometimes flare up and gets red and a bit swolen. I have not started her on any new foods recently. Currently I' m using Epizone, but I' ve tried E48 and Epimax and none of these creams seem to help much. I' m willing to go to a doctor, but I' m not sure if I should go to a Dermatologist directly? If so, can you recommend a Dermatologist in the Pretoria area?

Thanks doctor!

Your daughter seems to have developed an allergic form of eczema. It would be best for her to be seen by a paediatric allergist. There is an excellent paediatric allergy department at the Pretoria Academic Hospital. Try and see either Prof Robin Green or Dr Tammy Urquart.
