Allergic to Mosquito Bites!

Good day
My LB is 3yrs old, he was bitten by mosquitos several times on friday. Saturday the bite marks didn''t look to bad (Very Red &  Swolen), but after scratching them trough - out saturday the bites seemed to have worsten. Yesterday they were very red andswolen and looked like little water blister and started oozing a bit. We decided to take him to the dr. to makes sure they are in fact mosquito bites and the dr confirmed they are indeed mosquito bites and that he is very allergic to them. He gave me a oinment _Antvantin. I would just like a second opinion, could this be at all life threathing to my little boy, and is there any form of disease that is normally associated with this type of allergy? Dr. advised yesterday there is no cure for this, and to just apply the ointment when a mosquito has bitten him. Is there anything else I should be made aware off?

thanks Doc,
I will await your reply.

Your son is very allergic to mosquito bites, but this is not at all life threatening or dangerous. The main problem is that the bites cause such severe itching and your son scratches the bites all the time. There is no cure for this allergy but he will become less allergic to the bites as he gets older. Apply the Anthisan cream to the bites twice a day and give your son an antihistamine such as Allecet syrup 5ml at night.Ask your pharmacist for the Allecet.

Hi Rosa,

The same thing happens my daughter since birth. She is now 6 years.
Try preventing the bites by using as natural repellant like Dischem''s Lemon Grass Acques Cream or one of the kids ranges.
Use the alregic cream once it has happened, but also ask you doctor for Fucidin cream once it gets infected from the scratching.
