Q.

Allergic to milk/dairy

I took my 2 year old son to the Doctor just now and heard that he is allergic to milk/dairy, which makes him constantly ill. What alternative to milk is there that tastes nice - goats milk, soya? How much intake does he need at 2 years?

Fortunately your son needs very little milk at his age. He needs about 600ml per day which is about 2 cups of milk per day. Goats milk is very similar in composition to cow's milk and cannot be used for a cow's milk allergic child. You can use the regular soya milk in cartons. This must be used on his cereal as well. Be careful to eliminate all dairy from his diet including yoghurt and cheese.
