AGE / Pubick hair HAIR

Dear dr

My 8 year old (soon to be 9) daugter is generaly healty. Not skiny rather muscular as she does sport 3 times a week. She drinks concerta for narcolepsy and vitamines - thats it. I started seeing pimpels on het skin a few monthes ago and bought her some soft yet propper face wash soap for teanagers. Now I see she has black pubick Hair LONG BLACK pubick hair - I did not make her attend to it but saw she was trying to hide it. So I did not say or make any comments about it. but it does worry me - Is she to young? I do the whole Free range chicken egg
thing - I replace plastick with glass as soon as I get home - She does not show signs of breast development yet - but she is like I was hairy on the legs. My period only started at 15 years. Do I need to worry about this? If pubick hair starts growing how long before her period will start ?

Your little girl is showing the first signs of puberty. As she is only 8 years old this is called precocious or early puberty, but she is almost 9 years old which may make this of less concern. She should be seen by a paediatrician as she may require a hormone test. This will depend on the paediatrician's opinion.
