Q.

Abdominal discomfort

My baby is 3 weeks old. As from last week he started groaning, he curls himself, almost to a ball, when i' m holding him. At night he cries when i put him to bed but is quiet when i hold him. Should i take him to a doctor or this discomfort will pass?

Your bay's symptoms suggest that he is having colic but he is very young to have colic now.You do not mention how you are feeding your baby.If he is on a formula feed he may have a problem with lactose intolerance. If he is being breastfed it would be best to ask your paediatrician to see your baby.Pleaase write again and tell me how your bay is being fed.

Thank you for the reply. He is breastfeeding. I was considering to introduce the formula in a week' s time but I am not sure now given this condition. When he cries, he also makes unusual sound - as if something is pressing gainst his nasal tract / throat.
