Q.

A few questions

Hello Doctor,

I gave my 8 month old, yoghurt and now he has a stuffy nose and a phlegmy cough. I am giving him Salex nose spray 3 x times a day and a mixture from the pharmacy, not sure what is in it, the abbreviations are: Dph/Lenazi/Codomi/Betano, 2.5ml 3xtimes a day. Should I give him something else? I have done this for 5 x days now, should I continue up to 10 days?

Why is it that you can give yoghurt at 8 months and milk at 1 year?

Thank you for your time.

Your baby seems to be allergic to dairy as he developed this blocked nose after eating yoghurt.Yoghurt is normally easier to digest than regular cow's milk because it has been modified by the good bacteria used in the manufacturing process. I cannot decipher the contents of the mixture he is on but would advise against it on two counts, firstly his age and secondly it is not helping him.Keep up with the Salex 3 times a day.Take him to see a paediatric allergist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
