Q.

9 month old with bad breathe

Hi Doc,

My 9 month old son seems to have ears that are sore to the touch but if I look at them, I can' t see any redness or inflammation and he is eating / drinking normally. He has popped his first 6 teeth in the last 10 days though so I was thinking his ear tenderness could be from that. However this morning I did notice a slight bit of bad breathe. Do you think I should take him to our paed or am I worrying for nothing.

Thanks/Angela.

A baby of 9 months should not have bad breath. There must be a reason for this. Your baby son appears to have an ear infection and may well have infected tonsils which are causing his bad breath. Please ask his doctor to see him.
