9-month old not sleeping thru

My lb has been sleeping through since birth, but since June he has been waking up 3-4 times a night. I' ve tried to leave him to cry, after checking obvious things like nappy, comfort, hunger etc but he screams like a banshee for an hour or more. I eventually end up giving him a bottle anyway and then he falls asleep. Thsi week he has been waking up only twice a night, betwen 12 and 01 and then again between 04 and 05. I heard somewhere that babies sometimes need more protein or carbs or iron or something - which is it and in what way can I increase it?

It does seem that your baby is hungry.Try him on Lactogen 2 instead of his present formula.
