Q.

9 month old baby with allergies

hi Doc, my baby has just been diagnised with being allergic to Tomato, lemon, milk, soya milk, cheese, fish, salmon, peanuts, pumpkin/squash and egg. He has a rash all over his body and every morning he wakes up with his face swollen even thou I dont feed him any of those things. His Doc gave him Oilatum soap to wash with and prescribed some ointment. it worked for a week and all the rash came back. What could be wrong to him? Please help

It is really surprising to hear that your baby of only 9 months is allergic to all of these foods. As you say he has not ever eaten some of them.You really need good advice and also your child should be re-tested to find out which are the main foods he is allergic to.For one thing he seems to allergic to cow's milk and to soya so you will need advice as to how to feed him.Also advice about treating his rash. It would be best to see a paediatric allergist with your baby son. There are experts in all the main centres in South Africa. If you let me know in which province you live I will recommend a paediatric allergist.
