Q.

9 Day old baby

Hi Doctor,

My baby boy is 9 days old. During the day is doing pretty good. He sleeps most of the time and I have to wake him every 3 hours to feed. He is on NAN Pelargon. during the day he hardly ever has stomach cramps. But the night feedings arent so great. he would wake at 23:00 for a feed, and then 2 hours later he would wake up crying, curling his legs and i can see he obviously has stomach cramps. I feed him again at about 2 and the same thing, His 6 o clock feeding is usually ok and the rest of the day as well.

not sure how to handle this. Can i give him spasmopep with these 2 feeds to help the cramps or should i be changing his formula.

Why would he only cramp at night?

Your baby seems to be having colic. He is only 9 days old and it is rather early for him to be having the usual infant colic that is so common in babies up to about 3 months. It is difficult to answer your question as to why he only has these cramps at night. This is also unlikely to be due to reflux.
Try your baby on an anti-colic formula such a Novalac AC and see if this helps him.
