8 month old baby with diarrhea

My 8 month old daugher had 5 very loose stools (almost watery) today. She also ate only half of her food lunchtime and looked as if the food made her nauseous. She is teething at the moment - already the two bottom ones are out and her gums is very swollen. I don''t know if the loose stools is just because of the teething and if the amount of dirty nappies are normal. Last night she had two loose stools in an hour.

Must I rather take her to the doctor?

Your baby's diarrhoea is not due to teething. She has a gastro infection. Summer diarrhoea is often due to a virus infection especially by the rotavirus.Has your baby had the rotavirus immunization? It is very important to make sure that your baby does not become dehydrated due to loss of fluid. Give her frequent sips of Rehidrat solution. The instructions for mixing the Rehidrat are on the packet. If she continues to have diarrhoea or starts to vomit she must be taken to see your doctor.
